Consultation Period: Monday 8th July 2024 to Monday 16th September 2024

Newport City Council’s Accessibility Strategy for Schools 2024-2027 sets out how the council aims to improve the accessibility of schools for pupils with disabilities.

The draft strategy outlines their commitment to improve:

  • the extent to which disabled pupils can participate in the school curriculum
  • the physical environment of the schools
  • access to information for pupils, carers and families
  • communication and transparency by being open and honest about what can be expected or achieved.

Full information on the consultation can be found here, including children and young people’s version of the draft strategy and the Fairness and Equality Impact Assessment.
